Look what my friend brought me all the way from the USA!!!!!!

Sometimes friends offer to bring some polishes back from their holiday for me. I always gladly accept their offer and this way I received some great polishes. So when my friend Marijke went to America last december and asked me if she should buy some polishes for me, I immediately said Yes! She has great taste so I didn't give her a list but said that if she found a nice polish that I would love to have it. These are the polishes she found for me:

Soms bieden vrienden me aan om nagellak voor me mee te nemen van hun vakantie. Natuurlijk neem ik dat aanbod altijd graag aan en zo heb ik al een paar super leuke lakjes gekregen. Dus toen mijn vriendin Marijke afgelopen december naar Amerika ging en me vroeg of ze nog nagellak voor me kon kopen, zei ik direct Ja! Ze heeft een goeie smaak, dus ik vond het niet nodig om een lijstje voor haar te maken en zei dat als ze een leuke lak tegenkwam dat ik die dan wel zou willen hebben. Dit zijn de lakjes die ze voor me vond:

She had so much fun looking for polishes that she couldn't stop buying them, LOL, my addiction is contageous!
And she chose well too; Vampy, glitter, neon, duochrome, glassfleck, holographic and suede...it's a great variety of different polishes.

Wooeeeeehoooeee, ze heeft 16 nieuwe lakjes voor me gekocht!!!
Ze had zo veel lol in het kopen van nagellak dat ze zichzelf niet meer kon inhouden, LOL, mijn verslaving is besmettelijk!
En ze heeft ze ook goed uitgezocht; Vampy, glitter, neon, duochrome, glassfleck, holografisch en suede...het is een prachtige collectie van verschillende lakjes.

En hier zijn mijn nieuwe China Glazes. De eerste twee had ik al, maar de laatste drie wilde ik nog graag hebben, dus daar ben ik erg enthousiast over!

OPI Suede We'll Always Have Paris | Sally Hansen Purple Potion | Savvy Sparkling Lavender

Look at these three beauties. My first OPI Suede, it's gorgeous (and now I want more :-s ).
And the Savvy is actually a polish my friend Marijke bought for herself on an earlier holiday, but she doesn't wear it ( she usually prefers vampy colors ). It's stunning: a pale grey/blue polish with strong lavender duochrome AND tiny holo glitter!!!! Bring on the sun so I can do some swatching.

Kijk eens naar deze drie schoonheden. Mijn eerste OPI Suede, hij is geweldin ( en nu wil ik er meer :-s ).
De Savvy is eigenlijk een lak die Marijk al op een eerdere vakantie voor zichzelf had gekocht, maar ze draagt 'm niet ( ze draagt liever vampy's ). Het is een waanzinnige mooie licht grijs/blauwe lak met een sterke lila duochrome EN fijne holo glittertjes. Kom maar op met die zon, dan kan ik gaan swatchen.

And here a little tip for those of us who don't use a lightbox and want to take a bottleshot without having your entire room in the background: Just put a big white enveloppe behind your polishes and you have the perfect clean background.

En nog een kleine tip voor degenen die geen lichtbox gebruiken en toch foto's van de flesjes willen maken zonder je hele huis op de achtergrond: Zet er gewoon een witte envelop achter en je hebt de perfecte nette achtergrond.

Today is my mom's birthday and I'm going to wear a green dress... I think the purple OPI Suede will be perfect for tonight ór the dark red Milani. Still thinking about that.

Dus wat vind je van mn nieuwe lakjes? Ze zijn allemaal zo leuk dat ik bijna niet kan kiezen welke ik als eerste ga dragen. Vandaag is mijn moeder jarig en ik doe een donkergroene jurk aan...dus dan denk ik dat ik de paarse OPI Suede ga dragen óf de donkerrode Milani. Ik denk er nog even over na.

Playing with Color Club polishes: Rule Breaker + Wild at Heart

In december I had a week off ( seems like ages ago now ) and in that week I had some time to try out a few things with nailpolish. I just love the combination of teals and purple in my clothing and make-up so wanted to try something in those colors on my nails.
For my very perceptive readers: yes I'm wearing one fake nail in these pictures. I tore up the nail on my ringfinger very badly and bought fake nails so I could still do some swatching. Never used fake nails before, but it worked out great this time.

In december had ik een weekje vrij ( lijkt ondertussen wel een eeuw geleden ) en in die week had k wat tijd over om wat dingen met nagellak uit te proberen. De combinatie zeegroen met paars vind ik echt prachtig, ik doe dit ook wel eens in kleding en make-up, dus het leek me leuk om ook iets met nagellak te proberen in deze kleuren.
Voor de zeer oplettende lezer: ja ik draag één nepnagel op deze foto's. Ik had de nagel van mijn ringvinger echt gigantisch ingescheurd en heb nepnagels gekocht zodat ik toch nog wat kon swatchen. Ik had nog nooit eerder nepnagels geprobeerd, maar het werkte dit keer erg goed.

Color
Color Club - Rule Breaker - a metallic green teal, lovely color!

Application
Great. I expected it to be thicker and more opaque, but it builds up nicely and hardly any streeking.
The brush is nice too, I could paint quite precise with it so I had little clean up to do before I took the pictures.

Applicatie
Prima. Ik had verwacht dat de lak wat dikker en dekkender zou zijn, maar verder heb je al snel een goed resultaat met vrijwel geen zichtbare kwast-strepen. Fijn kwastje ook, ik kon (voor mijn doen ) erg precies lakken en ik hoefde bijna niet schoon te maken voordat ik de foto's nam.

I freehanded the funky french and added the coloured nailart stones with a dottingtool.
This was not a full mani but I would like to wear something like this as a full mani sometimes!

Ik heb de funky french uit de losse pols getekend en heb de gekleurde nailart steentjes er met een dottingtool op gezet.
Dit was geen volledige mani, maar het lijkt me wel leuk om zoiets met deze kleuren een keer als een volledige mani te dragen!

- No idea actually. I paint my nails often, I like talking/writing etc, I didn't want to spend my time watching television if I'm at home, I needed an excuse to buy ALOT more nailpolish... yeah I think it's the sum of all above.

Mostly nailpolishblogs, there are so many of them! I check them early in the morning and in the evening.

For every product I have a favourite brand
Products I use almost every day:
 Bourjois mascara ( liner effect, black), Gosh eyepencil ( velvet liner, metallic brass ), Bourjois kohl pencil ( black ), Sephora matte powder, lipbalm by Blistex.

4. What about the favorite clothing brand?
I like clothing from the Dutch store WE
And I'm a bargain-hunter, so I like to buy at sales everywhere.

5. What piece in you make-up bag is the most important to you?
Mascara ofcourse, my tiny eyes need a little help.

6. Your favorite color?
Blue/green, green/blue, aqua, teal, turquoise...everything between green and blue.
But who am I kidding, I like almost every color.

7. Favorite perfume?
I have 3 favourites:
Kenzo Amour - With top notes of frangipani and blossom; a heart of cherry blossom, white tea and frankincense, and a dry down of thanaka wood, rice and vanilla.
Boucheron - This feminine scent possesses a blend of citrusy tangerine and bitter orange, florals jasmine and orange flower, sandalwood, amber and vanilla. It is recommended for evening wear.
(Some people really dislike this perfume, I don't know why, I feel allll woman when wearing it )
Kenzo Jungle Elephant - This seductive scent will have you feel like queen of the jungle, this alluring scent contains a blend of mandarin, cardamom,caraway, clove, heliotrope, ylang-ylang, mango juice, licorice, vanilla, patchouli, and casmerin.

CND - Desert Suede + animalprints... RAWRRRRR

This is a mani a wore last week for 6 days in a row and I loved it! I wanted a mani with two different animalprints, but in case that was too hysterical-looking, I did a neutral base so I could also wear it at work, but I think this would also look amazing on a neon.

Deze mani droeg ik vorige week voor 6 dagen achter elkaar en ik vond t helemaal leuk. Ik wilde graag een mani doen met twee verschillende dierenprintjes, voor het geval dat het er hysterisch uit zou zien heb ik een neutrale basislak gebruikt. In dit geval kon ik het ook gewoon op het werk dragen, maar ik denk dat dit er ook heel gaaf uit zou zien met een neon eronder.

Color
Desert Suede is a neutral beige with a slightly pink undertone. It's actually a very pretty color and the perfect base for nailart.

Kleur
Desert Suede is een neutrale beige kleur met een roze ondertoon erin. Het is eigenlijk best mooi en een perfecte basis voor nailart.

Application
Great, two coats for an opaque and glossy result. Weartime is also very good, I had minor tipwear after 6 days.

Applicatie
Geweldig, twee laagjes nodig voor een dekkend en glanzend resultaat. Hij blijft ook lang mooi zitten, na 6 dagen had ik slechts een beetje slijtage aan de randjes.

Konad
My mother gave me some Konad plates and special polish which I used here. With the Macro-shot you can see the minor flaws, bur IRL it looked good. Got alot of compliments too, woohoo :-)

Konad
Mijn moeder heeft me een paar Konad plaatjes en speciale lak gegeven die ik hier gebruikt heb. Met de Macroshot zie je de kleine imperfecties, maar in het echt zag het er prima uit. Kreeg ook een boel complimentjes, jeej :-)

When we went to amusementpark The Efteling a teenage boy who worked there said he liked my nails and asked me if it took me long to do that. What kind of question is that for a teenage boy?!?!?! What teenage boy cares about how long it takes me to do my nails? It was adorable though and I think I should have offered to do his nails sometime.

Toen we in De Efteling waren, zei een tiener-jongen die daar werkte dat hij mijn nagels leuk vond en vroeg me of het veel tijd had gekost om ze zo te maken. Wat is dat voor vraag van een tienerjochie?!?!?!?! Welke jonge gast interesseert het nou hoe lang ik erover doe om mn nagels te versieren? Het was wel schattig hoor, ik had hem eigenlijk moeten aanbieden om een keertje zijn nagels te doen.

Comparison: OPI- At your Quebec and Call VS. LA Girl Metal - Antique Gold

When I borrowed Antique Gold from my sister I thought it would be similar to my HTF OPI At Your Quebec & Call. So I swatched them side by side and took some pictures for you ofcourse!
I showed you these two polishes earlier this month, so check those posts if you want to see a full review of the polishes.

Toen ik Antique Gold van mijn zusje leende, dacht ik dat deze vergelijkbaar zou zijn met mijn HTF OPI At Your Quebec & Call. Dus ik heb ze naast elkaar geswatched en er wat foto's voor jullie van gemaakt natuurlijk!
Ik heb deze lakjes eerder deze maand besproken, dus als je een volledige review wil zien dan kan je de andere posts kijken.

Color
As you can see the color is a bit similar, both are a gorgeous olivegreen with lighter shimmer.
Antique Gold is a bit darker with bigger and lighter shimmer particles
AYQ&C is a tad lighter and the golden shimmer is more subtle which looks more like a golden glow

Kleur
Zoals je kan zien is de kleur inderdaad vergelijkbaar, allebei zijn ze prachtig olijfgroen met een lichtere shimmer.
Antique Gold is een beetje donkerder met wat grotere en lichtere shimmer deeltjes
AYQ&C is een tikkie lichter en de gouden shimmer is veel subtieler, het lijkt meer op een gouden glans.

Application
Antique Gold needed 3 thick coats for opacity, it's a little bit sheer, but I didn't mind.
AYQ&C needed only 2 coats for opacity, but it's a very old polish, when it was new I used 4 coats to get a good result.

Applicatie
Antique Gold had 3 dikke lagen nodig voor een dekkend resultaat, maar dat vind ik niet zo erg.
AYQ&C had slechts 2 lagen nodig, maar deze is dan ook al erg oud, toen deze nieuw was had ik zeker 4 lagen nodig voor een mooi resultaat.

Somebody asked me if Antique Gold looked like China Glaze Zobie Zest...I have to admit that I didn't buy any of the China Glaze Awakening polishes or any other olivegreen polishes like Orly Rocket Science or China Glaze Peace on Earth. I like this color alot, but not that much that I need to buy all of them.

Iemand vroeg me of Antique Gold lijkt op China Glaze Zombie Zest...Ik met bekennen dat ik geen van de China Glaze Awakening lakken heb gekocht of een andere olijfgroene lak zoals Orly Rocket Science of China Glaze Peace on Earth. Ik vind dit een leuke kleur, maar niet zo erg dat ik ze allemaal in deze kleur moet kopen.

Both polishes are very pretty, do you like one more then the other?
I think I like the OPI better, but maybe that's just because it's one of the oldest polishes I have left in my stash and it has a special place in my heart.

Beide lakken zijn erg mooi, vind jij er één het mooiste?
Ik denk dat ik de OPI het leukste vind, maar misschien is dat omdat het één van de oudste lakken is die ik nog over heb in mijn collectie en omdat deze lak een speciale plek in mn hart heeft.

LA Girl Metal: Antique Gold

This is a polish from my sister's stash, we both have a huge stash and often lend polishes to each other. Sometimes when I can't find one of my polishes I text her if she has it, because I forgot which ones she took from me. And sometimes when I return her polishes she forgot they were here's to begin with :-)

Dit is een lakje uit de collectie van mijn zus, we hebben beide een grote collectie en lenen ook een boel uit aan elkaar. Soms als ik een lakje niet kan vinden dan sms ik haar of zij 'm heeft omdat ik echt niet weer weet wat ze van me geleend heeft. En soms als ik haar eigen lakjes terug breng dan weet ze niet meer dat ze in eerste instantie van haar waren :-)

Color
It's named LA Girl Metal - Antique Gold, but it doesn't look like metal and it doesn't look gold to me...but who cares, it's so pretty! This is a olive green with alot of lighter sparkles in it that look a dark gold or lighter olive. It's a very classy and sparkly polish.

Kleur
Deze lak heet LA Girl Metal - Antique Gold, maar ik vind het niet op metaal lijken en ook niet op goed, maar wat maakt het uit, het is zo mooi! Dit is een olijfgroene lak propvol met lichtere glimmers die lijken op donker goud of een wat lichtere olijf kleur. Erg mooi en glimmend!

Application
This isn't the most opaque polish, but with three coats it looked amazing and I had no problems with it at all.

Applicatie
Het is niet de meest dekkende lak, maar met drie lagen zag het er geweldig uit en ik heb er verder geen problemen mee gehad.

Maybe you have seen my post from earlier this month about OPI's At Your Quebec & Call. I thought these would look similar so I took some pictures for a comparison. I decided it would be more fun to do a seperate comparison post, so I'll try to get that up later this weekend.

Misschien heb je eerder deze maand mijn post over OPI's At your Quebec & Call gezien. Ik dacht dat deze lakken op elkaar zouden lijken dus ik heb wat foto's gemaakt voor een vergelijking. Ik heb besloten dat het leuker is om een aparte post te doen voor die vergelijking, dus ik probeer deze later dit weekend te plaatsen.

China Glaze Ruby Deer with Konad

This was the first mani I wore this year and I absolutely loved it. The extremely bright red and the white really looked amazing together and it was a fun mani to start the year with.

Dit was mijn eerste mani van het jaar en ik was er helemaal verliefd op. Het knallende rood met het wit zag er echt fantastisch uit samen en het was een leuke mani om het jaar mee te beginnen.

Color
The red base is China Glaze Ruby Deer. An extremely bright red creme polish. Very glossy and very pretty.

Kleur
De rode basiskleur is China Glaze Ruby Deer. Een hele felle rode creme lak. Erg glanzend en erg mooi.

Application
Ruby Deer applies great, no streeks and needed only two coats for a perfect result.

Applicatie
Ruby Deer lakt perfect, geen strepen en ik had maar twee lagen nodig om een dekkend resultaat te krijgen.

My mother bought two Konad plates for me and I used the hound's tooth pattern from M63 with white Konad special polish for the design.

Mijn moeder heeft twee Konad plaatjes voor me gekocht en ik heb het pied-de-poule patroon van M63 met de witte speciale lak van Konad gestempeld.

As you can see not every nail is perfectly Konadded but I really don't mind, if I use Konad more often my skills will get better. The full mani looked great despite the minor flaws and that's all that matters!

Zoals je kan zien is niet iedere nagel perfect ge-Konad, maar dat kan me weinig schelen, als ik vaker oefen dan worden mijn vaardigheden vast beter. En het eindresultaat zag er ondanks de kleine schoonheidsfoutjes hardstikke leuk uit en dat is alles dat telt!

My China Glaze haul @Enchantra

Last december a Dutch webshop called Enchantra had a different awesome discount every day of the month. Three times I ordered from them that month and got me 4 smARTnails, 3 Konad imageplates and 8 new China Glaze! The Konad plates and the China Glaze arrived on the same day in my holiday so I had time to take some pictures of bottles and swatches to share with you.

Afgelopen december had Enchantra iedere dag van de maand een andere super goede aanbieding. Drie keer heb ik hiervan geprofiteerd en heb 4 smART nails, 3 Konad imageplates en 8 nieuwe China Glaze voor mezelf gekocht! De Konad plaatjes en de China Glaze kwamen op dezelfde dag binnen toen ik vakantie had, dus ik had wat tijd om foto's van de flesjes en de swatches te maken om aan jullie te laten zien.

Isn't this a nice thing to receive all in one day? Most of these looked sooo much better then I expected!
Let's take a closer look:

Is dit nou niet heerlijk om dit allemaal op dezelfde dag te mogen ontvangen? En de meeste zagen er ook veel beter uit in het echt dan ik had verwacht!

Ahhh these were much more bright and vibrant then I expected, look how that red and blue pop of your screen, gorgeous.
Deze waren zo veel feller en knallender dan ik had verwacht, kijk eens hoe dat rood en blauw van je scherm af spatten, prachtig.

These are part of the Retro Diva collection, which I love and I'm trying to gather the entire collection!

The chrome ( Robotica ) is for stamping ofcourse! And don't own many browns...I think I don't own any now I think of it, so I thought I should get at least one in this haul and chose Ingrid. She's much darker irl btw.
De chrome ( Robotica ) is voor stempelen natuurlijk. En ik heb vrijwel geen bruine lakjes...nu ik erover nadenk heb ik er volgens mij helemaal geen, dus ik dacht dat ik er op zn minst één moest bestellen en koos Ingrid. Ze is in t echt trouwens wat donkerder.

FYI: the green reflection in Jitterbug is my (limegreen) fotocamera. And not untill I edited the pictures I noticed that the bottles were still a bit dusty from the wrapping in which they were sent to me.
FYI: die groene reflectie in Jitterbug komt van mijn ( limoengroene ) fototoestel. En toen ik de foto's ging bewerken zag ik pas dat er allemaal stof van het verpakkingsmateriaal nog op de flesjes zat.

Aren't they just great? I couldn't choose which one to wear first so I texted one of my friends and she chose the color red. So the first one I wore was Ruby Deer, it was my super bright New Years mani. I did some Konad on it the day after and wore it for a full week. Expect a post of it real soon!

Zijn ze niet mooi? Ik kon niet kiezen welke ik het eerste wilde dragen, dus ik heb een vriendin gesmst en zij koos de kleur rood. Dus de eerste die ik hiervan droeg was Ruby Deer, het was mij super felle Oud&Nieuw mani. De dag erna deed ik er Konad op en heb die mani een volle week gedragen. Je kan daar natuurlijk snel een blogpost van verwachten.

OPI - At Your Quebec and Call

Recently I discovered that At your Quebec & Call is a Hard To Find, how awesome is it that I own a old HTF??? When I bought it almost 5 years ago on a holiday in Spain I just bought it because it was OPI and it was green, both things were at that time hard to come by here in Netherlands. I don't wear it anymore though, but it's still nice to own it!!!

Niet zo lang geleden kwam ik erachter dat At your Quebec & Call een Hard To Find is, hoe stoer is het dat ik een HTF bezit??? Toen ik deze ongeveer 5 jaar geleden kocht op vakantie in Spanje, kocht ik deze alleen omdat het een OPI en een groene lak is, beiden waren hier in Nederland toen moeilijk te krijgen. When it was new, it needed 3 or 4 coats to hide the visible nail line, it was really sheer.
Now it's older I just need two coats for opacity. No brushstrokes at all and it's still very good.

Applicatie
Toen de lak nieuw was, had ik zeker 3 of 4 lagen nodig om de lak dekkend te krijgen, het was echt erg dun.
Nu de lak ouder is heb ik slechts 2 lagen nodig. Geen strepen en de lak is nog steeds goed en mooi vloeibaar.

If you want to buy a bottle of your own, ít's still available on Ebay and it really doesn't cost that much. For $6 + shippingcosts it can be yours. Ofcourse I don't know if those bottles are the real deal.

Als je een flesje hiervan voor jezelf wil kopen dan is deze nog steeds te krijgen op Ebay en helemaal niet zo duur. Voor $6 + verzendkosten kan deze lak van jou zijn. Natuurlijk weer ik niet of dat de echte zijn.

I'm going to enjoy the last day of this holiday. I always take the first workday of the year off to avoid most of the newyears-kisses at work. I like my collegues alot, but I don't see the point of kissing everyone just because the number of the year changed. I'm sort of the Grinch of New Year, LOL :-)

Ik ga nu nog even genieten van de laatste gad van mn vakantie. Ik heb zoals altijd de eerste werkdag van het jaar vrij genomen om de nieuwjaars-kussen op werk te kunnen ontwijken. Mijn collega's zijn erg leuk, maar ik zie het nu er niet van om iedereen te kussen alleen omdat het nummertje van het jaartal veranders is, zie mij maar als de Grinch van Nieuw Jaar, LOL :-)
